the legend of

Kapu Cove

Many years ago, Captain Makaio Kane, a spirited and slightly rebellious sailor, embarked on a daring journey across the Pacific. Born in the bustling port towns of Polynesia, Makaio was drawn to the sea but yearned for something more, a treasure not of gold, but of legend. His quest was to find the mythical Kapu Cove, a hidden sanctuary said to hold the blessings of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes.

The stories of the cove were passed down by islanders, whispered under moonlit skies. It was said to be a lush paradise nestled at the base of a towering volcano, protected by sacred laws.

Those who respected the island's spirit would find peace. Those who defied its harmony would face Pele's wrath.

After months of searching, Makaio's ship was caught in a fierce storm near the Big Island of Hawaii. With his vessel destroyed, he and his loyal crew were swept ashore on a jungle-covered island with a smoking volcano in the distance. Exhausted but determined, Makaio ventured inland, following trails marked with ancient tiki carvings. He soon found the legendary Kapu Cove, an untouched paradise brimming with vibrant foliage, cascading waterfalls, and the soothing hum of the volcano.

As the crew made themselves at home, Makaio stumbled upon a hut built at the volcano's edge, its walls adorned with carved masks, torches, and trinkets from the sea. It had been left by another wanderer, though none had been seen for decades. Inside, he found a recipe journal filled with concoctions crafted from local fruits, herbs, and volcanic waters. Inspired, he used the journal to create drinks that embodied the spirit of the cove, blending the essence of the jungle with the fiery energy of the volcano.

How the Cove Became a Bar

In time, Makaio and his crew restored the hut and turned it into a gathering place for lost sailors, islanders, and adventurers who stumbled upon the cove. They named it Kapu Cove, honoring the sacred laws and the balance of nature that protected this magical place.

Today, the bar carries on Makaio's adventurous spirit and the island's legends. Each drink tells a story, crafted with ingredients inspired by the lush jungle, volcanic energy, and the whispers of Pele herself.
